“What day is it today again?” was my thought at the end of this shoot. These days I get lost in time after a long day of work. Being tired is beside the point. I get lost in a world that we have created as a team. A world that existed for a short moment in time. A bubble that has been invented by a team of passionate and inventive people. Each shoot is different from any other because each one has a different team who brings different ideas and contributions to the work, and each shoot has a different concept and feel to it. This shoot was a little eerie and yet magical at the same time. These two words just don’t seem like they go together but that’s just the beauty of art. Since starting out as a makeup artist, I have had an entirely different, challenging and worthwhile experience. From working in a school environment filled with cute little children who do whatever you say (most of them anyway!), to entering a whole new scary world of beauty and fashion has proven to be one difficult journey so far, but heck it’s all worth it!
Art has always been ingrained inside me, but since I’ve accepted and embraced this gift, the ball has not stopped rolling. I have always been a girl who is afraid to test the waters, yet contradictively, I have always hated bowing down to conventions and what “should” or “should not” be acceptable. Art gives me that extra boost of courage to take that first step out of the land. (more…)
